Pastor Ron McCaslin, Spring Creek’s beloved pastor of 32 years is retiring and proposing a plan for pastoral transition.
WATCH THE ANNOUNCEMENT
WHY AND HOW DID THIS COME ABOUT?
Pastor Ron McCaslin has known for the last 25 years that at this point in his life and ministry, God would provide a next generation leader to whom he would pass the leadership baton as Pastor of SCA. His choice today is, “God’s will is always the right path and I enthusiastically embrace His direction.”
In the fall of 2019, Pastor Ron had the Deacon Board vote as the Pulpit Committee to select a Pastor who would succeed him as Pastor. Unanimously the Deacons chose Darren Pilcher to be the candidate presented to the church to be elected Pastor of Spring Creek Assembly of God.
After hearing the decision of the Deacons, Darren and Michelle took a month to pray and hear from God. The good news for SCA is that God confirmed to them that they would be in His will to accept such an invitation from the SCA congregation.
The Deacons and I chose June 28, 2020 to place this before the SCA family and July 12, 2020 for the pastoral election to confirm Darren Pilcher as Pastor of SCA.
WHO IS THE PILCHER FAMILY?
Darren Pilcher presently serves as the director of Missions and Executive Pastor for the Oklahoma District of the Assemblies of God. He also serves as founder and director of Century Leadership, a leadership development culture whose vision is to build leaders for the next one hundred years. Darren has a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministries, a master’s degree in organizational leadership and has written discipleship materials used by many churches. Darren and his wife, Michelle, have been the lead pastors of two churches in Oklahoma and have served on the pastoral team at churches in Dallas, Texas and Aurora, Colorado. After meeting at Southwestern Assemblies of God University as students, they were soon married and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary last November. Ministry together has been their joy – loving people, developing leaders, and traveling to nearly 30 countries of the world to encourage and serve missionaries and their families. But their greatest joy is in their two children – Ethan, who is a recent graduate of Deer Creek High School, and Emma, who will begin her junior year at DCHS this Fall. Darren and Michelle believe that the local church is the hope for the world and that building the family of God through genuine relationships of love
and grace is what changes lives.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR PASTOR RON & MARSHA?
Pastor McCaslin’s role in SCA after the transition will be to continue as part of the SCA family and to support and assist our new pastor and the SCA congregation in every way possible
